Hakataya Ramen

Hakataya is a Hiroshima-based chain that is known for its Nagahama style ramen, a subgroup of the Tonkotsu flavor or Pork flavor ramen.

Located near Nafco, Hakataya is another ramen chain known for its bright orange lit signs and strong servings of noodles. Another popular ramen shop in Iwakuni, the ramen here is brimming with flavor and there is an easy-to-read English menu that makes ordering a breeze. Hakataya is known for its various ramens, but a standout item is their Spicy Ramen that you can order ranging from 1-5 spice levels. Another key feature of Hakataya are their “kaedama” options or noodle refill options. By ordering either a full or half kaedama, you can get another full service of noodles which you can plop back into your broth once you finish your original bowl. Essentially for a few hundred yen, you can get a full ramen refill!

Along with the ramen options, Hakataya serves fantastic gyoza, rice balls, and fried rice. Certain days of the week are known for their specials, such as Wednesdays where you can get up to three kaedamas for free! There is plenty of parking available for the shop and similar to most other ramen shops, the place is often packed between the hours of 6 to 8 resulting in a short wait. All the seats are either tables or at the booth.
