FAQs

Q When are the games scheduled?

You can get the full schedule at (http://www.sanfrecce.co.jp/en/)

Sanfrecce Hiroshima is the local professional soccer team that currently competes in the J1 Division, the highest division of professional soccer in Japan.

The team was founded in 1938 as Toyo Kogyo Syukyu Club and after a number of name changes the ownership finally transferred over to the Mazda corporation. The official colors are Purple and they play at the Hiroshima Big Arch Stadium located in Itsukaichi, Hiroshima.

You can take a trip to go watch the club at their Edion Stadium (Capacity 36,894) which is located about 45 minutes away from Iwakuni. They have won the J League four times over the last decade or so and have been very strong in recent years. To go watch a game, please check their schedule at this website where you can even purchase tickets. You can alternatively purchase tickets at most local convenience stores through their ticketing machines located near the ATM.

Tickets range in price from ¥500 for children and youth under 18 years of age to nonreserve supporter seats which are usually ¥2100, all the way up to the reserved main box area which are around ¥5500. The stadium atmosphere is incredible especially in the Ultras area which are in the nonreserve supporter sections. They chant and cheer throughout the match and have large drums and megaphone for the supporter leaders that go throughout the match. They play in both the J League as well as the Asian Champions League which means you can view them playing either on the weekends or even for midweek fixtures. To access the stadium you can either drive to the stadium or alternatively take free shuttle buses on gameday to and from either Yokogawa Station or Shin-Hakushima station.
