Sanzoku (Chicken Shack)

The menu spans a wide variety of traditional Japanese foods and delicacies.

Nicknamed after its famous grilled chicken called Sanzoku-yaki

An Iwakuni staple, Irori Sanzoku is affectionately known to many simply as the Chicken Shack. Nicknamed after its famous grilled chicken called Sanzoku-yaki, the traditional-styled Japanese eatery is also known for its Sanzoku musubi (large-sized rice ball), Sanzoku udon, and Sumeragi beef. The menu spans a wide variety of traditional Japanese foods and delicacies.

On top of its fine variety of foods, the outdoor restaurant offers a large amount of activities and attractions ranging from small shops to beautiful koi ponds as well as Taiko drum locations. There are also a few small trails that lead to shrines up into the mountainside, and altogether the destination is much more than just a restaurant. There are three main Irori locations scattered across Yamaguchi, however the main location is in Kuga, roughly a 20 minute drive from Iwakuni. The additional two locations are in Nishiki and Shuto. There is plenty of parking along the mountainside and the destination is often crowded around dinner time but you shouldn’t expect long waits to be seated.
