Shogan-in Garden

Wonderful garden with a variety of styles.

Shogan-in Garden is a Japanese garden that became a Cultural Property of Yamaguchi in 1995. At the southern part of the temple, they have a Chisen-Kansho style garden. From the entrance gate to the main building they have a Karesansui style garden. The first one is a mixture of Chisen (pond and lake) & Kansho (to look) style, the garden has a pond or a lake that is made to be viewed from the house. Karesansui style is where they use stones and rocks to express water and islands without using any water. Few parking spots are available at the temple. Stop by before or on the way to the beach and enjoy the beauty of Japanese gardens.
